McMiLLER is proud to offer some of the most sustainable toys and games on the market. However, due to a lot of ‘greenwashing’ in the toy and game industry we understand phrases like eco, green, and sustainable can get confusing. So we’ve decided to keep it simple - a bit like us :)

When we say it, we mean it.

Fire In The Hole, UpRoar (and all forthcoming McMiLLER products) are 100% plastic free.

We’ve used our joint creativity to find materials from ‘above the soil’ - like cardboard, paper, felt, natural rubber and 100% organic cotton, to replace the need for materials found below the soil that are harmful to our enviroment - like oil, which is used to make plastic.

As you might already know, carbon dioxide is emitted when any product is made or shipped. To offset all of those nasty emissions, we support projects around the world that reduce carbon dioxide, cleaning up the very air we breathe.

We've partnered with an awesome organization called Climate Partner to help offset all carbon emissions produced when a McMiLLer product is made, bringing us one step closer to becomming the most sustainable toy and game company on the planet.

Fire In The Hole has a zero tolerance policy for plastic: no plastic-lamination, no shrink-wrap and no plastic components!

All elements of the game are made out of biodegradable materials: instead of plastic cannonballs we opted for natural wool felt ones, the eye patches are made of 100% organic cotton and natural rubber. The cards, box and pop-up ship are made out of durable FSC certified card stock with a protective water-based varnish.

One of our main goals with Fire In The Hole was to show that you can make an impressive, show-stopping, super cool looking game that you can play over and over again, without relying on plastics.

Most card games have a thin plastic coating on each individual card and box - this is to avoid the product getting scuffed over time.

We felt that the McMiLLER customer would be happy with a few scuffs and scratches over time in exchange for a completely plastic-free, biodegradable, carbon-neutral and compostable card game, so we decided to protect each copy of UpRoar with a water-based varnish.

This game is more than durable enough to last for generations, but if you find yourself all laughed-out, we recommend gifting it to someone else - or just chuck it in the compost bin.
